Laguna: Urban Sanctuary
Laguna's coastline is an ecological pearl in the midst of busy Orange County. Its tidepools, beaches, bluffs, and ocean waters draw visitors from from all over southern California, and they also support an astonishing variety of marine life.  Click here to download a template letter that you can send to the Fish and Game Commission to ask them to protect Laguna.

Laguna Sea Life
Laguna's surfgrass beds are nurseries for lobster, mussels, and owl limpets, and grunion spawn on its sandy beaches. The reefs and kelp just offshore are home to rockfish, sheephead, kelp bass, abalone and scallops.

Protecting Laguna
There is broad community support for the protection of Laguna's rich coastal waters, and the compromise plan for southern California's marine protected area network (proposed through the state's landmark ocean protection law, the
Marine Life Protection Act), would do just that. Help us maintain the protections proposed for this natural gem by supporting the creation of a marine reserve at Laguna.
